KARINTHIRI KANNAN NAIR കരിന്തിരി കണ്ണന്‍ നായര്‍ :

കുറുമ്പ്രാന്തിരി വാണവരുടെ പൈക്കിടാങ്ങളെ കശാപ്പ് ചെയ്തു പശുക്കളെ വകവരുത്താനിറങ്ങി അവരാല്‍ കൊല ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട തെയ്യമാണ്‌ കരിന്തിരി കണ്ണന്‍ നായര്‍. പുലി തെയ്യങ്ങളുടെ കൂടെ ഈ തെയ്യവും കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

പുലികളെ വക വരുത്തുവാന്‍ പോയ നായരെ കാണാതെ പരിഭ്രമിച്ച വാണവര്‍ തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടദേവിയായ രാജ രാജേശ്വരി തുളൂര്‍ വനത്ത് ഭഗവതിയെ മനസ്സില്‍ ധ്യാനിച്ചു. സ്വപ്നത്തില്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ട ദേവി പുലികണ്ടന്‍ പരമേശ്വരന്‍ ആണെന്നും പരമേശ്വരനാല്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട  “കരിന്തിരി കണ്ണന്‍ നായര്‍” ദൈവക്കരുവായെന്നും എന്റെ അരികത്ത് ഒരു  ദൈവ മന്ദിരം പണിത് അവിടെ  കുടിയിരുത്തിയാല്‍ കഷ്ട ദോഷങ്ങള്‍ അകലുമെന്നും വാണവരോട് പറഞ്ഞുവത്രേ. ദേവിയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു സ്വീകരിച്ചു വാണവര്‍ അവിടെ ക്ഷേത്രം പണിയുകയും ദൈവക്കോലങ്ങള്‍ കെട്ടിയാടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

KARINTHIRI KANNAN NAIR :

Karinthiri Kannan Nair was killed by Kurumprantiri Vanavas who slaughtered their calves and killed them. This Theiya is also fighting with the Tiger Theiyas.

Panicked not to see the Nairs who had gone to kill the tigers, Vanavar meditated in his mind on his favorite goddess, Raja Rajeshwari Tulur Vanat Bhagwati. He told the devotees that the goddess Pulikandan who appeared in the dream was Parameswaran and that “Karinthiri Kannan Nair” who was killed by Parameswaran was the god’s calf and that if they built a god temple near me and settled there, all the evils would be removed. Accepting the advice of the goddess, the Vanavas built a temple there and tied the god’s poles.
