മലൻകിടാവ് തെയ്യം

ഇതൊരു ആൺ തെയ്യവും പോരാളി തെയ്യവുമാണ്. കഥയനുസരിച്ച്, നിസ്വാർത്ഥമായ ത്യാഗത്തിന് ശേഷമാണ് മലങ്കിടവ് തെയ്യത്തിന് ആരാധനാലയം ലഭിച്ചത്.

ഈ തെയ്യം വാൾ പിടിച്ച് കാട്ടുവേലകൾ ചെയ്യാൻ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ചില ആചാരങ്ങളിൽ തെയ്യം നാളികേരം പൊട്ടിക്കും.

കണ്ണൂരിലെ ചെറുകുന്ന് പഴങ്കോട് ശ്രീ കൂറൻകുന്ന് ഭഗവതി കാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലാണ് (ഫെബ്രുവരി 24 മുതൽ ഫെബ്രുവരി 27 വരെ) മലങ്കിടവ് തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്.

Malankitav Theyyam

This is a male Theyya and a warrior Theyya.

According to the story, Malangitav Theyyat got the shrine after a selfless sacrifice.

This Theyam is known to carry swords and do forest work. In some rituals, they break coconuts.

Malangitav Theiyam is held at Cherukunn Pazankot Sri Koorankunn Bhagavathy Kav Temple in Kannur (February 24 to February 27).
