പരുത്തി വീരൻ
ശിവ ഭക്തനായ ഒരു ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പൂജാ ദ്രവ്യങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി പെരിഞ്ചെലൂർ ശിവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുന്ന വഴി പുതിയ ഭഗവതിയെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി ഭഗവതി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കൂടെ കൂട്ടി പോകുന്ന വഴിക്കു കുളിച്ചു ക്ഷീണമകറ്റി വരാൻ നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചു. കുളിക്കുന്ന സമയത്തു ഭഗവതി ബ്രാഹ്മണനെ കൊന്നു. പിന്നീട് ഭഗവതി ബ്രാഹ്മണനെ തെയ്യമായി വാഴിക്കുകയും ദേവിയോടൊപ്പം അനുഗമിക്കാൻ നിർദ്ദേശിക്കുകയ്യും ചെയ്തു.
കണ്ണപുരം പുതിയ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും കണ്ണൂർ ചാലാട് പള്ളിയൻമൂല ചാലിൽ ഭഗവതി കാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലുമാണ് പരുത്തി വീരൻ തെയ്യം കെട്ടിയാടുന്നത്.
Cotton Hero (Paruthi Veeran) Theyyam
A Brahmin who was a devotee of Shiva met the new Bhagwati on his way to the Perinchelur Shiva temple to offer puja material and Bhagwati asked him to take a bath on the way and get tired. Bhagwati killed the Brahmin while taking bath. Later Bhagwati admonished the Brahmin as Theyam and suggested that he accompany the Devi.
