ഭദ്രകാളിയുടെ വസൂരി രോഗം മാറ്റാന്‍ വേണ്ടിയാണ് ശിവന്‍ ഘോര രൂപിയായ ഈ അസുരമൂര്‍ത്തിയെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചതെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ശിവന്റെ കണ്ഠത്തിലൂടെ ജനിച്ചു കര്‍ണ്ണത്തിലൂടെ ആവിര്‍ഭവിച്ചതിനാലാണ് ഈ പേര് വന്നതെന്നും വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
മലയ സമുദായക്കാര്‍ കെട്ടിയാടുന്ന മന്ത്രമൂര്ത്തികളില്‍ പ്രധാനിയായ ഈ തെയ്യത്തിനു അരയ്ക്ക് താഴെ മനുഷ്യ രൂപവും അരയ്ക്ക് മുകളില്‍ ഭദ്രകാളി രൂപവുമാണ്. ഭദ്രകാളിയുടെ വസൂരി രോഗം മാറ്റിയശേഷം ചെറു മനുഷ്യരുടെ വസൂരി രോഗം മാറ്റാന്‍ ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് എഴുന്നെള്ളി എന്നാണു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്. മന്ത്രവാദപാരമ്പര്യമുള്ള ഗൃഹങ്ങളിലുംഇല്ലങ്ങളിലുമാണ് ഈതെയ്യക്കോലം സാധാരണയായി കെട്ടിയാടാറുള്ളത്.
അരയില്‍ പതിനാറ് പന്തങ്ങളോടു കൂടിയ ഈ ഉഗ്രമൂര്‍ത്തിക്ക് തലയില്‍ നെരിപോടും ഇടതു കയ്യില്‍ ചൂട്ടും, ചൂരക്കോലും, കപാലവും, മണിയും, ചീനവാദ്യവും വലതു കയ്യില്‍ കൊടിവിളക്കും ധൂമകുറ്റിയും ഇരുന്നൂറ് തൃക്കണ്ണ്‍കള്‍, ആയിരം മുഖങ്ങള്‍, രണ്ടായിരം കൈകള്‍ മൂന്നു കോടി രോമദ്വാരങ്ങള്‍ ഒക്കെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. വളരെയധികം അപകടം പിടിച്ച ഒരു തെയ്യക്കോലമാണിത്.

KHANDA KARNAN / AGNI KHANDA KARNAN:
It is said that Lord Shiva created this Asuramurthy of Ghora Rupee to cure Bhadrakali’s smallpox.
It is also believed that the name came from being born through Shiva’s throat and emerging through Karna.
Among the Mantramurtis worn by the Malayan community, this Theiya has a human figure below the waist and a Bhadrakali figure above the waist. It is believed that after curing the smallpox of Bhadrakali, she rose to earth to cure the smallpox of small humans. Etheiya kolams are usually tied in houses and illams with a tradition of witchcraft.
It is believed that this Ugramurthy with sixteen torches on his waist has a torch on his head, a hot rod, a club, a sword, a bell, a Chinese instrument in his left hand, a flag lamp and incense stick in his right hand, two hundred three eyes, a thousand faces, two thousand hands and three crore hair holes.
This is a very dangerous tea tree.
